In the years of being single, Nicole had a problem.  She needed a date for a wedding and was struggling through a list of options.  What is worse then getting invited to a wedding while being single?  Finally she decided on The New Guy.  The New Guy became Marvin.  Marvin became Marvelous Marvin and the rest, as we say, is history.

Nicole and Marvin got married on a scorching day in Tamboerskloof and had their reception at La Petite Dauphine in Franschhoek.  These two have travelled throughout Africa with a landrover and it only seemed fitting that their wedding vehicle be a vintage landrover.  The owner assured me that he has never been asked to use the car for a wedding.  That’s exactly how these two are – just a little bit different.  Enough to blow your mind with their awesomeness.

It was nerve-wrecking to think of taking the pictures at this wedding.  Nicole’s mother was a major photographer in her day and some of her pictures are still displayed on the wall where Nicole grew up.  These pictures are amazing enough to scare any young photographer.  This soon passed and I found myself silently wiping a tear away (like most of the congregation) while they were getting married.

Their wedding was an intimate affair with wonderful attention to detail.  Nicole’s mom made the wedding cake (without gluten) and told me that the secret ingredient of this specific cake was a lot of love.
